About Lee

I have been consumed by music since the moment I began tinkering with the piano at age 5. In elementary and middle school I continued my musical journey with the clarinet, then alto saxophone and baritone saxophone, playing each in the school band. Music was clearly my passion, but it wasn’t immediately clear which avenue I should take. Early in my high school years, I found the guitar and quickly became obsessed with the instrument, eventually getting a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from the University of Oregon. I subsequently spent over a decade performing and recording as a guitarist and vocalist, teaching privately on the side. In 2015 I began teaching at Northwest Academy in downtown Portland, where I spent 10 years as the director of Guitar Studies.

I love helping students discover their musical voice. Please reach out if you think I can help you find yours!
